President Hamlin?

For his second term, Lincoln (for reasons unknown even to scholars of his life, it seems) dumped Hannibal Hamlin in favor of Andrew Johnson, which is widely regarded a very bad idea.

So what happens if he doesn't?

There is an attempt to create a fairly radical reconstruction in the early summer of 1865 without the chance given in otl for the class that promoted treason and slavery to re establish itself.

My guess is he calls a special session of the New Congress and gets measures as radical as he wants through in the aftermath both of victory and proper anger at the murder of LIncoln
