President Candy Lightner

Could Candy Lightner, the founder of MADD, become President? What would her policies be?
Running as a Democratic candidate in the primaries, it isn't unlikely for her to win momentum.

She would do well to run as a Representative (1980 - district 1, 6, 18, 26, 27 or 44) or Governor (1982) in California, this would give her experience as well as being appointed by President Ronald Reagan to the National Commission on Drunk Driving in 1984 go up for Presidential election in 1992 against George H. W. Bush.

Her main policies would be based on:
Economy
Support higher taxes on alcoholic beverages

Foreign Affair
Conducting foreign affairs with the preservation of American liberty and independence, refusing friendly relations with any nation that does not practice the humanitarian treatment of all people. With the exception of emergency aid, supporting the cause for cease foreign aid to unfriendly nations and opposion to the interference of America in the sovereignty of other nations. Advocating that the United States military should not invade any foreign country without the express consent of Congress.

Bills
Policies based on anti-drunk driving legislation

Almost more interesting for her to be effective Senator or Representative . . .

Yes, some people seem to have a genetic predisposition to alcoholism.

In other cases, maybe the slow erosion of middle-class jobs and a disease of lack of hope for the future?

Maybe Senator Lightner becomes a surprisingly perceptive leader on rebuilding the middle class and a surprisingly effective advocate in taking solid medium steps a la the FDR experimentalist approach.
