President Bush's Colon: A Collaborative Alternate 2000s Timeline

Maybe because as president he would be under more intensive press scrutiny, the child molestation will become public knowledge 13 years sooner.

CHENEY PICKS THOMPSON FOR VP - CNN 8/01/02
In a press conference today at the White House; President Dick Cheney announced Fred Thompson as his choice for Vice-President. 'Fred Thompson has done a fantastic job representing the state of Tennessee is the Senate, and will do a great job as Vice-President.'. Rumors say that Thompson was picked over more moderate choices like former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani do to worries over the president's health.
Did not see this when I wrote my last post. My mistake. Although, there is no mention thus far of Thompson getting confirmed. If a VP is chosen, but unconfirmed if a President dies, how does the line of succession work then?

Thompson isn't VP yet, so Speaker Hasbert would technically be next in the Line of Succession

This may cause a mini Constitutional crisis. Will Hastert want to keep Thompson as the nominee, or will he want to make his own selection? Not to mention that Hastert's history will be much more closely examined now that he's President. That could prove, um, troublesome given his baggage.

"Damn it all, two presidents dead in two months. Better look out, President Hasbro, Has been, whatever your name is, there seems to be a curse hanging in the White House."
-Quote controversially broadcast on NBC's Saturday Night Live

"Cheney isn't dead. He just faked his death so he could continue running things behind the scenes."

Lyndon LaRouche, August 11, 2002

PRESIDENT HASTERT KEEPS THOMPSON
Wants to keep him as VP "for the good of the nation"

As I continued speaking with the North Korean surrogate, negotiating with him, I began to feel frustrated. The President, through Secretary Powell, specifically insisted that I go to North Korea in order to foment peace negotiations to avoid a full scale war between the North and the South, and yet, here I was, with a government official unwilling to budge on anything. "Did they want peace?" I asked myself. However, in that moment, the question was answered. Two military men walked into the room. My Secret Service agent stood up, and was immediately shot without warning. I looked at the officers in horror. One looked at me and told me, in stuttering English, "Bill Clinton, you are under arrest. Follow us.". I had no choice but to follow them, and with their guns aimed at me, I followed them out of the negotiation room.
-My Life On The Line, by former President Bill Clinton, published in 2007.

"When the North Korean government took fomer President Bill Clinton as a hostage, they believed it would make us cower in fear. They demand we pay, but no, YOU will pay the ultimate price for this act, North Korea!"
-Excerpt from speech given by President Hastert, 8/10/2002
