hey, all. i decided recently that i would differentiate English/Scottish monarchs from the later British ones in my ASB ATL by giving all monarchs between Harold Godwinson (who defeats William of Normandy ITTL) and the first British Emperor (an equivalent to George IV) by giving them all epithets. most of these monarchs are fictional characters while some are historical, but almost all of them are based on historical figures, so looking at their OTL history will work as far as discussion is concerned for the most part. i wanted to get some help and feedback in designing these epithets. for a bit of context, up until a noted historical king, the Witenagemot is the driving force behind who succeeds the previous monarch rather than using primogeniture. i still need some for:
Edmund Godwinson (one of Harold's elder sons)
Magnus Godwinson (Harold's younger son)
Aethelwulf (entirely fictional)
*Henry II of England
*Arthur I the Duke of Brittany (reimagined as an Italian; he's adopted by the ruling family)
*Edward II of England
*Henry IV of England
*Henry V of England
*Henry VI of England
*Richard III of England
Henry VII of England
Henyr VIII of England (i'm thinking something along the lines of "the Divider" because he split the Anglican Church from Rome)
John Dudley of Northumberland (an instance of the Witen choosing the king)
Edward III
Mary I
Elizabeth I
Henry IX (entirely fictional, Elizabeth's son by Robert Dudley)
*Charles I of England
*Charles II of England
*George I of Great Britain
*George II of Great Britain
*George III of Great Britain
*George IV of Great Britain
now before anything else, i'm not looking for any (more) geographical epithets; those are the official epithets and will more specifically refer to a given monarch's homeland. what i'm looking for are slightly informal epithets that may well postdate the respective monarch entirely.
