After a right leaning government takes power in France in 1934, Germany looks at it as an opportunity to take back the Rhineland. The Germans are surprised to find a France that not only stands up to them but holds on to the Rhine Valley as part of the unpaid debt from Versailles Treaty.
The Nazis and Hitler are removed in a coup sponsored by the military. From the rubble of Germany Europe imposes a pre 1870 status on Germany. With a smaller Prussia, Saxony, Bavaria and a Hesse and Hanover all part of a “states rights” movement.
The German army is limited as a whole to the original Versailles. Four divisional equivalents are assigned to Prussia, and two each to the other states.
