Possible American Army & Corps Commanders - Europe winter 44-45

If the American Army suddenly needed an Army or Corps commander who do you think would get tapped and why? The reason why they need one is secondary. It could be a road accident, severe illness (i.e.heart attack) or a lucky German bomb or shell. But let's say on January 6 there is need for an Army commander followed by a Corps commander a couple days later (or the other way around). There are two critical openings to fill. Who gets called?

Depending on the situation and timing the obvious candidates for Army command are Gerow and Truscott. After them Lawton Collins and Ridgeway (see the Army Chiefs of Staff list).

Corps command is harder as there are lot more divisional commanders in play, but possibly Maxwell Taylor.

Simpson fought the war with a lot of health problems, if post Bulge either Ridgeway or Collins is likely, before that Gerow gets promoted earlier than historically (he didn't get the 15th Army until after the Bulge)
