Possible “-mania” politicians

In 2010, after a strong performance in the first tv debate, Nick Clegg became the subject of an outpouring of support. Although ultimately losing seats from 2005 he was able to prevent a squeeze of the Libetal Democrats. Similarly in 2017 Corbyn was able to recover Labour from a double digit poll lead for the Tories and Labour ended up gaining seats mainly at the expense of the Conservatives.

My question, mainly for my timeline but also I’m curious to hear your thoughts, is what other Politicians could pull off a similar “mania” scenario such as Cleggmania and Corbynmania where expectations are low and everyone underestimates them? They can be from any party although something tells me it’s not exactly the Tories style of campaigning.

As much as finding an individual with a certain level of charisma is important (and, likewise, that their political opponents are essentially robots) I think both Corbyn and Clegg captured some of the imagination of a huge swathe of the population. So the most important factor is the general conditions that people are inhabiting that someone relatively unknown has a greater impact.
