possibilities check: Ethiopian somalia?

They had a better claim on Eritrea, since it historically have been under the kings of Tigre, and a part of the Ethiopian Empire. They did claim all of British, French and Italian Somaliland too though.

The most obvious reason why not is because there was already a British Somaliland; they just incorporated the rest of Somalia into a protectorate acknowledging that ultimately it would achieve independence.
Eritrea had been part of Abyssinia (Ethiopia) prior to Italian invasion and annexation in 1890 and during the 1941 campaign British forces were supported by Ethiopian troops in liberating Eritrea and Ethiopia.

and its been in constant warfare and is a hellhole.
All attempts at settling highlanders has failed outside of Dire Dawa and Harar the main cities..
There is a full scale inssurgency going on right now thats been uninterrupted since 1895 the conquest.
The reason that the ethiopians are comfortably in control now, is because of somalias collapse..
A somalia that didnt collapse would have meant that ethiopia loses the ogaden..

Haile Selassie asked for both Eritrea and Italian Somaliland after the war, but there was little chance of getting both and he had better justification for the former than the latter. He was lucky to get just Eritrea, which both Britain (on behalf of Egypt) and Italy wanted. In fact, he was lucky the British didn't take the Ogaden, since they had some Somali ambitions of their own.

I am more intrested in the consequences of Ethiopia getting the Italian somaliland and how it will effect the horn of africa, rather than the way that they will get it (the Ethiopian resistence can liberate it while british troops land in Aritrea)

If you can't think of any plausible way for it to happen (and I see that you can't) then you should've posted it in ASB.

Before the Italian invasion. All of the Horn of Africa has long been an Ethiopian claim. Of course it's about just as valid as the Mexican claim on Texas, or even less, since Somalia has never actually been a part of Ethiopia. However during the time of Menelik II they claimed quite a lot, and were not happy to have to stop their conquests because they ran into Europeans.
