Portraying the president

OK, let's say you're casting some sort of production that would involve the portrayal of a US president from history. Whom would you select to portray which president? Here are a few suggestions:

Woodrow Wilson -- Nicolas Cage
William Howard Taft -- Brian Dennehy
Lyndon Johnson -- Tommie Lee Jones

What do you say?

NICOLAS CAGE?????:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

Sure: he has the same rather elongated face shape that Wilson had; let makeup go to work to make his hair grey and give him pince-nez glasses and you're there. He has to approximate Wilson more closely than did Robert Vaughn in "Backstairs at the White House".

Robin Williams has already played TR (or a wax figure of him) but I think he should play him again in a real film about his life.

And this may be in the future but Randy Quaid should play George W. Bush.

Louis Rukeyser looked a lot like George Washington.

Wilford Brimley as Teddy Roosevelt.

Did WC Fields look enough like Herbert Hoover?

Scott Bakula as William Henry Harrison!

Wilford Brimley also looks somewhat like William Howard Taft!

I just thought of something--I looked in IMDB for persons who played Warren Harding! George Kennedy played the role in a miniseries, "Backstairs at the White House."

We could just search IMDB for all the other presidents who were ever portrayed film.

I looked up Rutherford B. Hayes, and the former astronaut John Glenn portrayed him in a miniseries, "The American President"!

Tommy Lee Jones as Jefferson Davis.
Ok not President of the United States, but I don't think Davis has been played on TV or a film.

James Cromwell has been cast as George Bush senior in the Oliver Stone film "W". I think it's a surprisingly good likeness (give Cromwell a toupee or something - the hair & facial features are oddly similar)

The Third time Cromwell has played a President, having played the fictional President Fowler in "The Sum of all Fears" and the former President D.W.Newman in "The West Wing".

Is it just me, or does a young(er) Tony Benn (i.e. in the '60s/'70s) look a lot like FDR?

... maybe it's just me...
