Some of you may remember a thread I posted a while back about if Italy and japan had the same population densities considering how much "usable land" (farmland, urban land, basically all the land that isn't unusable because of x reason) both countries had.
I calculated that if Italy had the population equivalent to Japan by usable land then it would have 235 million people.





However,
Even though that is a heck ton, its actually incorrect.
I forgot about Hokkaido.
To be specific, Hokkaido has a large percentage of "usable land", but by the standards of what I'm talking about it is essentially unpopulated (and actually was until very recently).
So with that in mind, excluding the usable land of Hokkaido, my new estimate for what italy's population would by if it was equivalent to japan is:
Roughly 350-400 million.
Even 235 million is a MASSIVE and probably asb stretch, but this...
It blows my mind out of the water
