Pope Clement V was elevated in June 1305. One of the things he is principally known for is that he convened the Council of Vienne in 1311-12 at the instigation of Philip IV of France which withdrew papal support from the Knights Templar.

If Clement V dies before Philip can pressure him to calling the Council of Vienne (say in 1307 or 1308) is there any impact to the Knights Templar outside of France? Is it possible that a new pope, like Boniface VIII, is less willing to accept direction from Philip?
