Pop Culture WI: Digimon 02 was a sucess---possible effects.

I've been watching the old Digimon(my childhood nostaligia!) recently because they're back on YT and I want to watch as much of them before they're taken down! And I wonder..................................

Suppose the writing team of the original Digimon series got their act together instead of degenerating into infighting and resignations and causing the series to stagnate, and after the Emperor Arc of the original series they pick up on Episode 2x13 of Season 2 of the original series, which would have set up the next plotline after the Emperor Arc had the writing team not destroyed themselves. As a result, the series quickly asserts itself and avoids many of the pitfalls it stumbles into.

What happens? Will there be a epilogue? Will there be a Season 3 in the old timeline? Will Tamers still happen? I for one believe there will be a season 3 with the Seven Demon Lords, and no epilogue(or it is moved to the end of S3), and Tamers will be season 4, but still an AU instead of set in the main timeline as they're probably gonna follow the Gundam model---the writer of episode 2x13 DID Tamers and he was praised for this episode, so if they follow his lead, he would have power to write his own season). Probably no Frontier and the series never devolves into "Transformers ripoff"(sorry Xros Wars fans!).

What do you think?

I think Tamers would still happen, regardless of whether or not 02 was better written. Possibly, it may have become an alternate fourth season. Even with a better second season, it would have gotten stale by the third season had the same characters and universe been kept.

I think if the second season had stuck with the Dark Ocean arc, the epilogue would probably never happened. Or a different epilogue would have been written based on whether or not the writers decided to continue the story into another season.

First of all there will most likely be Tamers as season 4 and had we gotten a hypoethical season 3 because the writing team got their act together and did the Dark Ocean arc it would actually be a good lead up to Tamers if they play their cards right. Villains of S3 could be the Seven Demon Lords, one of whom is Beelzemon, they could have him be sucked to another dimension at the end, then nerfed, becoming Impmon and losing his memories---that dimension leads to the Tamers verse. The final boss could be ZeedMillemummon and they could introduce Ryo Akiyama here and have him cast out from the Adventure universe in some fashion and end up in Tamers where he obtains Cyberdramon from the digiegg remaining from ZeedMillemummon.
