A few years back, Busta Rhymes revealed in an interview that he made peace between Tupac and A Tribe Called Quest after Tupac had accidentally interrupted their acceptance speech at the 1994 Source Awards. If they hadn't made up, is it possible that ATCQ would have joined the feud between the East and West Coasts?

I don't know too much about the personalities of the group, but I'm reasonably confident that Tupac would have responded if he'd been attacked by them. IOTL, Westside Connection, which seems to have pretty big at the time (it included Ice Cube), did put out a track dissing them, though Q-Tip responded in Beats, Rhymes, and Life with a verse that pretty much went "this whole coast feud is ridiculous, let's stop fighting, I've always respected the West Coast anyway". And Tupac's last album IOTL had him dissing pretty much every prominent East Coast rapper and rap group at the time, including De La Soul, who were in the Native Tongues Posse with ATCQ. Of course, he was dead before it came out, so responding would've been pointless and too petty.

In the timeline I'm suggesting, ATCQ would attack Tupac and possibly Westside Connection as well, if they were the sort of people who might come to the conclusion that they were getting ganged up on and that dis from Westside Connection still happened. Tupac would respond (he seems to have been a pretty belligerent guy), and Westside Connection might respond as well if they're attacked. Other West Coast rappers might get involved as well, since this sort of attack would be pretty unusual for such a positive-minded group. Assuming Tupac's last album isn't his last ITTL (butterflies might keep him out of Vegas altogether or at least away from his OTL killers) and the content is reasonably similar, his disses could get responses from a lot of prominent rappers, including Jay-Z and Nas. I want to say De La Soul would be one of the more likely responders due to their connections with ATCQ who are already involved, but I don't know for sure. Tupac would presumably follow through with his plans to strike out on his own away from Death Row Records, and who knows where things would go from there.

In summary, assuming A Tribe Called Quest got mad at Tupac for upstaging them at the '94 Source Awards and stayed mad enough long enough to put out a diss track aimed at him soon enough, I'm reasonably confident that the East Coast-West Coast rap feud of the 90s would have involved more people and possibly lasted longer than it did IOTL. Butterflies would hopefully keep anyone from dying long enough to keep things Interesting.

Am I onto something with this idea or have I missed any important factors?
