What would everyday life be like this Longist America? Would it be any better then OTL?![]()
Originally a book cover, but now that I think about it it would also work very well as a Documentary movie poster. Every Man a king tells the tale of America post Longist victory.
Although the Long dynasty are no longer the hereditary rulers of the US since the death of Earl Long, the Longs, and the “Longist thought” in general continue to dominate the America First Party and the American political scene as a whole. Long’s brand of pseudo-socialist, authoritarian populism has kind of become the “default setting” for American politicians, with the liberal democratic policies of parties like the Farmer Labour and the progressive democrats being viewed as a relic of a bygone and failed system that almost brought America to ruin.

It’s a mixed bag. There’s a lot more “direct” corruption like you’d find in some Arab nations today (I’m Arab btw, not being casually racist lmao), but at the same time there is a much more robust public welfare system with European style healthcare and subsidies to education and vital commodities such as gas, electricity and certain food staples. What would everyday life be like this Longist America? Would Lincoln still be in the main cast? Not sure about JFK being in the main cast, tbh.... Considering Ghandi is in charge of the syndicalist portion of the three-way contention on the sub-continent, he might be a little less of a spaz with issues considering his gene father is considered a bad guy if this is a world where Syndacalism went down in flames, meaning he probably feels like he doesn't have a much to live up to.
There would certainly be a more robust welfare system for sure, but I'd bet that government corruption would dampen most of the benefits that would provide. Public and affordable housing is certainly a boon, but if the construction contracts to build them were mired in corruption and faulty materials, it gets balanced out. If the healthcare products that doctors give to patients are faulty, or the doctors incompetent because they gave a bribe to become a doctor, it gets balanced out. Given the authoritarian system that Long propagates, there would be little to no way to hold people accountable for it, unlike a democratic USA, PSA, or CSA. I'd imagine that come any major economic or political upheaval in Longist America, the house of cards built up by Long would collapse in a heartbeat. What would everyday life be like this Longist America? IDK. Guess let's try going on without him. It was nice talking with him.Whoa, why did that terranova dude get banned ?
I checked out his history, he got banned for posting pictures of Hailee Steinfeld in one of the forums, not naked or inappropriate pictures or anything like that, but apparently they banned him for that. Let's try to keep going but lets face it he started this place and was it's most active users, and from what I see there are barely 6 people posting around here, so uh, this place is more likely to wither on the vine from now on.IDK. So given that Justified is about a member of the Minuteman militia, I'm guessing this is from a TL where the AUS won the civil war? Given that the Union of Britain appears to still be a thing, is the Third Internationale still around?![]()
Another netflix post, this time with more "popular" action and superhero movies and shows, hope y'all like it, also ignore the fact that the title of the Spider-Punk movie is "london calling" but it clearly shows new york in the background.

Interesting, so I'm guessing there's a three-way cold war of sorts between France, the Russian State, and the AUS? How democratic are France and America by the 21st Century?Yeah, the 2ACW actually ended after the 2WK so the US missed the whole thing. The world has 3 major alliances (and a couple of small ones), The Moscow Accord, The 3rd International, and the Entente (which is led by the US and consists mostly of the US, Mexico, Canada and what remains of the British empire after France, Portugal, Italy and Sardinia fell to the 3I during the 2WK)
Well, given that France is syndie, democracy in it works a little different than it does IRL, all power is in the hands of the unions and the central committee if you want to make change you have to do it through your union, you know, usual syndie stuff. Also the totalist charter, although it failed to outright control the 3I during the 2WK, is still alive and well, both Mosley and Mussolini won their countries’ post war elections, and although neither of them became “chairmen for life” the fact that they oversaw the post war reconstruction era, an era that naturally had a major economic boom, meant they managed to build a pretty loyal and stable base.Interesting, so I'm guessing there's a three-way cold war of sorts between France, the Russian State, and the AUS?
