This thread is based on the assumption of an absolute best case scenario for the Nazis (bordering on ASB). Germany won WW2 without extensive damage to its industry or infrastructure. Britain was conquered, the Soviets surrendered and were partitioned, America never entered the war. Basically, everything they did was a stunning victory. Within the decade, the Nazis and their allies controlled Europe, Africa, Asia and Oceania. By 1991, the American-led remnant collapsed, leaving the Greater Germanic Reich the sole superpower of the world. Presently, the year is 2021 and the Wehrmacht is mostly concerned with fighting terrorists and rebels.
It's a fairly typical Nazi victory dystopia; Russia is ruled by a brutal feudal aristocracy, all government branches are in uniform, Speer builds magnificent palaces et cetera. Ignore the improbability of the setting for now.
The question is, what does pop culture look like in this world? How does it differ from our own? I don't think even the Nazis can entirely scrap cultural development, but they will certainly influence it. What books will people be reading? What music will they be listening to? What films might they be seeing? Are there any Turtledovian analogues to OTL authors/celebrities/politicans/whatever?
What do societal attitudes look like? Things like views on gender, race, class, profession, marriage, military service, counter-terrorism, allied war crimes? Once again, I don't believe a Nazi society would remain entirely static, but what would change as compared to the '40s?
I'm thinking of this because I need ideas for a story. Any suggestions are welcome, as long as they're reasonably serious. Thanks, everyone!
