Pompey went all out in his eastern campaign

Pompey deciding while going to India with an army is impossible decides to conquer the western half of Alexanders empire up to the zargos that's not owned already by rome and maybe more. He takes not the western half of pontos but all of it as a province. He does the same to Armenia, the caucusess, cappdocia, the Bosporus kingdom, Rhodes, the rest of Anatolia, trace, and the kingdom of Petra. He then takes war to the Parthians and conquers Mesopotamia and the rest of Arabia. And for the greatest cash grab of all the Ptolemaic empire. Before his conquest of Egypt he is allowed to campaign for this long because of ally's like Caesar who his daughter he still married. And because of a revolt in North Africa and a Qurralsome pharaoh he is even allowed to conquer Egypt. This and the restructering of the area takes 15 years.

How much more rich and powerful did Pompey make himself? How rich and powerful did he make Rome? How much does Crassus hate Pompey know? Can Pompey get land grants for his soldiers and his eastern settlement ratified? Does a civil war happen against a senate afraid of Pompey? If so who wins and who ally's with who? What happens to the Parthians? How does history in general change?

I am not an expert on the power of Parthia during Pompey's time, but to me it seems unlikely to ASB that he could conquer ALL of what we would call the Middle East. Especially when we consider that Parthia and Rome were on fairly good terms AFAIK, as it was Pontus and Armenia that Pompey was mainly fighting.

Now... if we are to assume that he somehow does this irrespectively of the above reasons... Rome should be pretty rich. Crassus will be extremely angry and want to conquer as well. Everything Pompey wants will be approved. The senate may or may not oppose him. I am operating under too many assumptions to say anything beyond that, considering how implausible this is in my opinion. No offense.

How can I make it more plausible?

Taking on the Parthian Empire would be far more than Pomoey had the forces to handle a this disposal. He did very little fighting in the east, most of his time there was spent reorganizing the region's political balance.

@SlyDessertFox True, and I again add that they were on good terms at that time. Still a few years before Carrhae. If you want Pompey to go nuts conquering, I would recommend Ptolemaic Egypt or Seleucid rump state tbh. Not sure if that is doable or not.

The Seleucid rump state was under the control of Tigranes the Great, and after his defeat Pompey reorganized it and annexed it to Rome. There's no casus belli to invade Egypt at this point, unless you maybe have Ptolemy Auletes conveniently die while Pompey is in the east. Otherwise, Ptolemy was effectively Pompey's client.

@SlyDessertFox Yeah... Augustan Era Rome and beyond is more comfortable to me. Not as familiar with late Republic. Maybe he would want to invade and then try and hold Egypt as his personal "fiefdom?" Augustus may have had the right idea in making Egypt his personal lands. It is quite rich, and if Pompey wants to eventually become Dictator/Consul/alt-Imperator, Egypt is a good base from where to do it.

The only problem with this was the political risks were enormous. There's a reason Rome didn't annex Egypt during the republic, and it's because whoever did it would reap enormous wealth and incredibly connected clientele. Aulus Gabinius (a Pompey ally) invaded Egypt simply to restore Auletes to the throne and got crucified politically for it. Pompey's enemies would pounce.

Really?

But he conquered the selucid rump state in otl

@calvin1417 My apologies for my Seleucid comment. Late Republic is little-known to me. As for @SlyDessertFox comment about Parthia and war in the east, I have to agree. From what little I know, he really did not do much after he defeated Pontus and Armenia. Crassus is the one who was silly enough to attack Parthia. ;)
