Polsten gun replaces Oerlikon

For some reason the Oerlikon gun has been used for many decades while the Polsten gun--which is simpler, cheaper, and more reliable but has similar performance--was mostly phased out of service in the 1950s.

Why? What if the Polsten was adapted and used for naval mounts instead of the Oerlikon?

The Oerklion had a larger production run and was produced and adopted by more countries

Also the Oerklion was approved for ships because it was available before the Polsten, inertia would have kept it going

If the Polsten was adapted then the RN would be without a 20mm naval gun for 2-3 years or have to spend more money replacing the Oerklions they bought in the meantime
