Poll: Best Music in WW2?

Right. This forum has done generals, tanks, aircraft, general contributions, and more or less everything else. But what about music?

Which country had the best tunes to go with the War? This means anything used widely (so "The British Grenadiers", say, would count) by that country, even if it was made before the War, civillian songs produced for the War ("We'll meet again", for example), military songs made for it, and so on.

There may be no glory in the infantry, but will there be any for US Songwriting? Will Britain meet again with musical fame? Find out here! Youtube links would be appreciated.

(Note: I'm uncertain about this, but some German songs may be mildly illegal in Germany, so I'm just warning everyone in advance.)

EDIT: I've just realised that there is no poll here! Can someone explain how it works?

Also, I know that it was a bloody, horrible series of events in the Second World War, which brought about the deaths of millions, and thus shouldn't be remembered too cheerfully. I'm not trying to offend anyone with this by reducing it to a music competition. That said, as more or less everything else has been debated with apparent relish and "Lols", even including the competence of men who ordered the killing of many thousands of others; by comparision, music seems pretty harmless.

Lili Marlene, probably the only song ever sung by two opposing armies simultaneously.

I hate to nitpick, since I also think it is the best song in WWII, but it is not the only song to be sung by two armies at the same time.

Adeste Fideles (Come all Ye Faithful) came first. During the Christmas truce, it was sang not only simultaneously, but together.

"March of the Volunteers" kicks major arse, however.

Even more badass when Paul Robeson sang and recorded it in 1941 (in English and Mandarin!) a full 8 years before it was a theme.

Imagine it. An African-American orator/athlete/activist singing a Chinese Communist anthem jazz style in 1941 (though the song generally dealt with the themes of tyranny in that period).

"We'll meet again" or "Panzerlied".

The songs of Vera Lynn are all great songs of WWII. Pick one. "We'll meet again was featured in the movie "Dr. Strangelove".

The movie "Battle of the Bulge" featured "Panzerlied" as the motivation for Robert Shaw's character to go against impossible odds.
I paraphrase
No matter what the weather
As long as we're together
We'll do it for the gipper
'Cause we're the panzer guys.

I really like "We'll meet again" since I think it really describes the feelings of many, maybe all the people who lived through the War.Sweet, romantic, moving and filled with a certain nostalgia and optimism. I love hearing it.

:)

I like Polyushko Polye the best, mostly for the tune. I'm not sure if it can be counted as a WW2 song though, since it was made in 1934.
