As part of the 1867 Austro-Hungarian Compromise, the Dual Monarchy adopts a common language for government administration and education throughout the Lands of the Crown of St. Stephen.

1. What options are there for a common language? My thinking is that French, as the global business language of the time, and Latin, considering that about three-quarters of the Dual Monarchy's population was Catholic, would be the leading options.

2. How would this effect the economic development of the Dual Monarchy. If a foreign language like French is selected, could that foster closer ties with the French? German would obviously be a good option in this context, but the Hungarians would never accept that.

3. How does the use of a common language affect the combat capability of the Common Army during the Great War? Considering the fact that regiments were generally uni-lingual, I personally doubt that there would be much of a change.
