After the Franco-British guarantee of the Polish border following the German move into Czecho-Slovak Federation, the Polish government took a long look at the situation. Would the West actually help them? Could the help truly be helpful? The foreign minister went to Berlin for talks. The Polish proposals surprised the Nazis leadership. Poland would ceed the territory granted to Poland at Versailles to the Reich. The Polish Navy would be sold to the Germany. Poland would join the anti-communist pact. The secret part of the proposals were that Poland would consist of Russian 'Congress Poland' and Austrian' Galicia. If war occurred between the Reich and the Soviet Union, Poland would fight with the Reich. Of the former Russian Empire, Poland wanted Belorussia, Crimea and Ukraine. The Baltic States are in Germany's sphere. Economic agreements were signed. The Polish government knew war was coming and did not want to be in the way. By agreeing to Nazi demands hopefully Poland could be spared and the Polish-Ukrainian Commonwealth could be reborn. Hitler could not be happier. While he wanted victory he could tolerate the Poles when they knew their place. After the former Polish territory was restored to the Reich planning started for the attack in the West.
