Poland surives

Tizoc - country of the size of Poland surely needs more than two universities. Also, Warsaw had a population of 100k at the end of the 18th century, while Krakow and Vilnus were dumps. It makes much more sense to have Warsaw as a centre of learning and science.
Stevep - good point, considering that Catholicism was supposed to be a "rulling religion" of Poland, I guess he pretty much had to.
BTW, I tried to make a map of Europe but it's proving to be to much time-consuming. Anyway, the biggest difference from OTL is that France come out of the wars Napoleonic and much bigger (border on Rheine).

Somehow, England managed with 'only' two universities till 1820's... Also, it doesn't seem to matter if the city is big, when it concerns a possibility of setting of university or sth similiar...
