Poland loses the Krakow area instead of Silesia

What if Lev I of Galicia annexes the area of Krakow or MaloPolska what would happen to a Poland without Krakow, could either Gniezno, Poznan or Gdansk be the Capital of Poland?

Poznan because it was a big city and a lot of alternate opportunities. (My mother's family is from Poznan, and I have a lot of cousins living there)

See that would be interesting because it moves Poland futher westward and towards Prussian/German territories. However that's more towards modern times.

Galacia is more towards the Ukraine, so I doubt Poznan might become capial its too far west (and did it even exsit as a city then?).

If Poland ends up with a more western focus its going to mean Poland ends up conflicting more with the Hapsbergs and Germanic States of the renasenice and enlightenment eras. This might be problematic for the state of Poland unless the Lithuanian union can be kept and held for an extended period of time.

If that river (I forget its name) becomes the Muscovey-Russian border with the Polish state and friendship prospers, you might see Poland as becoming the Great Middleurope Power going into modern times at the expense of Russia and Prussia.

In turn, the Neatherlands might end up in Union with Hanover and Bavaria and Saxoney get gobbled up by Austria in a German unification if it happens. What happens to Austria-Hungary as a Union is a question mark, as a westward Polish State will surely influence what developments go on here. Still, a strong Poland means weaker Prussia and Russia as time ticks on, Poland is stronger in this TL because it is more central to the developed areas of Europe and the German rivers of the Oder and so access to the Baltic and also with fewer milliteristic neighbours (if it can beat them in battle) to challenge it.

On the otherhand, the westward Polish state pisses off the Hapsbergs; gobbled up by the Holy Roman Empire. End.

How exactly are the Habsburgs (presumably the family's second period on the throne, not the first) going to rally the HRE to act as one here?

There will be no union with Lithuania if that happens, most likely is a union with Brandenburg instead...Poland-Brandenburg anyone?
