Plus 130 (American Nazis) "It's like 1812, but in 1940"

I never really got how people thought that an extreme version of the Democratic Party of Republican Party are totalitarian. I mean I never hear about the Tea Party calling on installing a dictatorship, sure there's racism(mostly subtle), cultural conflict(mostly reactionary to things like gay marriage), and support for free markets. An extreme version of the Democratic Party is not Stalin nor Mao. Also, that's the great thing about having a two-party system: you don't get tyranny or at least not dystopia type stuff. I mean we've had democracy a long time now I don't see communist or fascist parties winning any where in the world. Especially countries with two-party systems.

Moreover, the Tea-party is hardly a "third party" it was a successful re-labeling of the activist heart of the Republican Party after 8-years of Bush. And for all the crazies you saw on CNN or read about online there were millions of Americans that didn't dress in those stupid tea-bag hats, wave signs in the street, and call Obama a socialist tyrant for giving people heath insurance. It's the 1960's all over again with the media failing at it's job. The 60's were hardly filled with long haired hippies running around. America is not Berkeley, the 60's were more like the 50's.

Also the KKK supported the Democratic Party and the Democratic Party was the more anti-imperialist party.

not really a plausible account asto why the USA would go fascist even though in the real world there WAS an attempt at a fascist coup in the 1930's which given a few minor changes in events say the shooter in the FDR assassination attempt NOT having his arm bumped at the critical instant might have succeeded. Though one might expect that fascism in America would have its own local flavor- The Leader being a figurehead for the true decision makers as opposed to the struting peacock of the German/Italian/Spanish models.

External Wars- more likely waged to dominate/exploit Latin America rather than going after Canada.

Neat. I was thinking of writing up a Civil War +100. Basically the Civil War, but with Great War technology. Of course, with the US being so powerful by 1911, Britain might intervene on the South's side to neutralize a rival.
