We've done tons of threads pertaining to Neutral Moresnet in the past, but I want to focus on one bit of Moresnet's colourful history. Around the turn of the century, a proposal was put forward by the chief medical doctor of the area to turn the territory into the world's first Esperanto-speaking state, called "Amikejo" ("place of friendship"). The idea gained some traction, but largely died down after WW1. Nevertheless, the idea of an Esperanto-speaking state called "Amikejo" is pretty interesting unto itself. This begs the question: could it be plausible enough to have such a state emerge and survive? If so, how?
