I've been thinking about some possible scenarios with the fall of Rome lately, and I thought of this; suppose that in the 400s/500s, a group of people piece together that Rome had been going downhill since the conversion of Constantine to Christianity (Rome had been struggling before Constantine's conversion, but let's just say these people put his conversion as the point when things got especially bad for Rome). Said group decides that the fall of Rome is clearly the Christian God's fault, and begin to believe that he is a 'bad god'. From there, this view of Christianity is syncretized with classical Hellenistic paganism to form a new religion, with the Hellenistic gods being supreme and including Lucifer, and with the God of Abraham being a Titan responsible for the fall of Rome (the archangels would also still be associated with God).

That probably wasn't a good explanation/scenario (I'm getting ready to sleep and I had this idea), but hopefully you get the idea; of course, the question isn't if this could become a state religion (which would be very implausible), but rather if it could exist as an underground cult for a while (probably a few decades). If it could exist, how successful might this religion be?
