Plausibility Check: Roman Empire & China Having Official Relations

So after reading Romanus by Soverihn and another forum that suggested Gin Ying's Envoy actually reach the empire proper, I started to consider writing a timeline where the two interact more deeply. But since I've never written a timeline, so I would like some help with creating a believable one and love some speculation

First, I would think you would need to create a POD for both Rome and China that either has both powers establish a larger presence in the land between them, or have groups that in some way officially represented the governments be much more willing to go outside their established territory.

I say two because it seems that a single in either country seems to be generally agreed not to affect the nation enough to establish great contact.

For those that know more than me, have any suggestions for POD or other was to get a good connection while I look?

Next, I wonder what people think would be some of the social, governmental, language, military, etc. effects prolonged contact would have on each other, especially in later periods.

For example, the forum with the mentioned of Gin mentioned Rome could become sort of seen as China's opposite but equal in terms of culture and world position in a sort of Taoism duality

So any help would be thankful
