Plausibility Check: Resistance: Fall of Man

While the series is firmly Alien Space Bats (literally), I want to know just how plausible the game' non-invasion alternate history lore actually is. Removing the chimera, what might be the actual historical repercussions?

This includes the following:
  • After the USS Maine incident, the United States successfully pressures Spain into granting Cuba independence, averting the Spanish-American War.
  • The Great War is triggered not by Franz Ferdinand's assassination, but when Britain and France invade German Togoland in August 1914. The war also ends a month early.
  • Woodrow Wilson is unable to get congress to declare war on Germany.
  • Michael Alexandrovich is either made Tsar instead of Nicholas II or takes power during the Russian Revolution. Either way, he leads the White Army to victory over the Bolsheviks.
  • Without American or Russian intervention, the European powers are pretty much left on their own to rebuild. Thus, the European Trade Organization is established to help establish peaceful co-existence on the continent.
  • After 12 French spies are found and executed, Tsar Michael seals Russia's borders in September 1921 and begins construction of a massive wall along its European border. This wall, known as the Red Curtain, eventually ends up being longer than the Great Wall of China.
  • Nikola Tesla successfully patents his VTOL, which is later mass-produced by Roosevelt's Work Progress Administration
  • Herbert Hoover vetoes the Smoot-Hawley Tariff act and the Great Depression doesn't occur.
  • The ETO helps the Weimar Republic develop and the Nazis remain a fringe group.
  • The United States constructs their largest military base in Alaska in 1937.
  • Isolationism gains more mainstream attention in the U.S. Roosevelt's dedication to building up the navy and trading with the ETO causes a lot of strife from the isolationist crowd and causes him to lose the 1940 election. An organization called the Alliance for American Autonomy is also established to keep America out of foreign wars.
  • Without Roosevelt's 4 terms, there is no 22nd amendment.
  • The first nuclear weapon is tested in Alaska in June 1944.

no one is going to start a continental war Over Togoland.

I never played the Resistance games but frankly the whole setting minus the Chimera stuff sounds interesting to me and makes me wish that maybe there ought to be a game that doesn't have the ASB stuff and instead has a conflict breaking out between the Allies and the Imperial Russians (almost like a total reboot of sorts).

Edit: Also, RVBOmally did a map based on that premise (link here)

There are so many huge contradictions. If the Great Depression never occurred, why is FDR elected? Why is there Work Progress Administration?*

If there is no WWII, why did FDR run for a 3rd term in FDR? Assuming he’s still elected in 1932. And why did the US build up its military and have an even more accelerated Atomic Bomb project? It was OTL the most expensive government project ever, why build it during war time.

*The smoot-Hawley tariff was the only cause of the Great Depression.

First off, I can't see how the Maine blowing up would avoid the Spanish-American War. Spain saw Cuba as a province of Spain proper in essence, and the USA been wanting war for some time now. If anything, the war goes OTL.

2: No way the Great War would kick off in Africa, that's TL-191. Franz Ferdinand would still get shot.

3: The Smoot-Hawley tariff was not THE cause of the Great Depression. Let it still happen.

The world before the Chimera is interesting, but needs a ton of reworking.
