Okay, this is a very vague idea with no certain POD (at least in my mind), but bear with me for just a moment. The modern era has brought many great and fearful inventions to the hands of humanity - some good, some bad. The advances in medical technology has certainly saved many peoples lives while on the other hand the advancement of military technology has allowed man to kill his fellow man in even greater numbers than he ever has before.
But what if things had been different?
Is it at all plausible for military technology to be curbed extensively, without sacrificing the overall advancement of medical technology? Now, this WI can go in many other directions, but let's see what we can do with this basic idea. Where to start?
