Plausibility Check: Macarthur or Patton as President

Just what it says: how plausible is it that Patton or Macarthur runs for and wins the Presidency?

Patton's obvious POD is not dying in a car accident in Germany postwar, but I'm iffy on him because I don't think he has the finesse to manage politics too well. Macarthur on the other hand has a stellar war-hero record, administrative experience as the Occupying Executive of Japan, and if he doesn't piss off Truman and get dismissed I think he has a shot in 1952.

McArthur would destroy himself if he were president.

It would be worse than Grant's administration. . . Because of the Bonus Army, the fact that McArthur was called "Dugout Doug" by the American soldiers he commanded, his self-love and indifference. If he had not been needed to defend Australia, and the Japanese could NEVER have taken Australia, so do not even start on that. If you read W. E. B. Griffin or Alexander Bevin, you would know that McArthur has a VERY undeserved reputation. For all people beat up on Patton, he was the better man, I think.

Patton's greatest flaw against him is his mouth. He's going to say something stupid however after Russia becomes hostile Patton could lead an campaign of, " I was right!".

MacArthur; Once again people troll MacArthur for the sake of trolling him. Would he increase the US military? Yes. Would he be more aggressive in regards to Communism? Perhaps. Would he support the witch hunt for Communists in the American public? To an extent.

I am not trolling McArthur. . .

I am saying that he himself would not want to be president.
