During Jubal Early's raid on Washington in 1864, some Confederate cavalry were dispatched in an attempt to liberate the 12,000 or so Confederate prisoners being held in the Point Lookout prison camp, which was not too far away. Did this operation have even a remote chance of success?

Moderate Plauseability, I doubt that they can get more then 1/4 of the Prisoners safely back into Virgina

Not a snowball's chance in hell. It was said at the time that Early came late. :D
Jubal Early was like another Confederate cavalry officer, J.E.B. Stuart, who
was also late.
