Plausibility Check: Hohenzollern Restoration in the Interwar Period

Less a continuation of an earlier topic (that is the plausibility and who would likely win HoI4's German Civil War) and more talking the feasibility of a Hohenzollern Restoration.

Now, while I find it unlikely that the powers that be would have been able to restore the German Monarchy over the Nazi regime in 1936, it doesn't eliminate the possibility of doing so before the Nazi's rise to power (or at least before 1934, when Hitler became effective head of state and government.)

While there have been many discussions in the past on the subject, I don't think they were given concrete answers on if it is feasible, but the question remains, assuming the Nazis were unlucky or curtailed, could we have seen the restoration of the Hohenzollern monarchy? (most likely under Wilhelm, Crown Prince/Wilhelm III)

Was there any support at all for a return to monarchy in Germany at the time? Even leaving aside the intentional arena (which would be deeply opposed, especially France) which segment of the German populace wanted the Kaiser back? I can't think of many except maybe a few of the more crusty right-wing former aristocrats and they seemed to back the far-right instead.

Once the Führer Oath was implemented, your chances decrease heavily.

Maybe have Blomberg properly think through the implications and leave it in his desk drawer..?

The problem is, if you knock out the Nazi's the next most popular faction by a safe margin are the Socialists, and I somehow doubt a left-dominated government are going to be particularly supportive of measures to restore the Monarchy under the terms the main Monarchist backers would find acceptable. You'd probably need a military self-coup, and even then would that government really compromise their position by restoring the throne for... what exactly?

So definitely, the answer is no, there is no chance for a restoration of the Hohenzollerns (or the monarchy in general) in the interwar period.

Thanks though.
