Plausibility Check: French USW in a much later WWI?

If cooler heads prevail in 1914 and later and WWI is delayed until the 1950s (the development of nukes is also delayed by a couple of decades in this TL), would French unrestricted submarine warfare (USW) in this TL's WWI be plausible?

For the record, this TL's WWI will have these sides:

-Central Powers: Britain, Germany, Austria-Hungary (if it survives), the Ottoman Empire (if it survives; if not, then Turkey), and Japan.
-Periphery Alliance: France, Russia, Serbia, Montenegro.

For the record, the logic of French USW in this TL would be the same as the logic of German USW was in WWI in our TL--specifically to knock Britain out of the war!

Anyway, any thoughts on this? Indeed, is this scenario actually realistic?

Also, I would like to point out that it is only in the 1950s that the Franco-Russians become sufficiently confident that they can quickly defeat Germany (and Austria-Hungary, if it has actually survived intact to the 1950s in this TL) in a general European war; after all, that is the Franco-Russians' only realistic way to win such a war.

Given USW was feasible in WW2 I imagine it would be feasible in a total war in the 50s. As for France in particular, all combatants tried it when practical so if it was practical for France then it would be tried.

OK; understood.

Also, would having France launch USW in the 1950s WWI in this TL cause the U.S. to enter this TL's 1950s WWI on the Anglo-German side?

I doubt it.

Given the geographical advantages France would have over WW1 Germany France would be much less susceptible to the quiet, undramatic blockade the German USW was the counterpart. France herself would be a victim of USW, which would merely be a part of a blockade campaign alongside surface warships, aircraft and merchant raiders making the USW not nearly the ogre it was for Britain and the USA in WW1. Why get particularly upset about submarines when aircraft and battleships are sinking ships without warning too?
