Plausibility Check: Canadian RW?

If the Canadian Rebellions of 1837-38 succeeded, could we see an independent Canada? What POD would be needed? How would the new Canadian government be formed? What would relations with the USA be?

Did my own topic inspire you?

Anyways, Lower Canada will be fiercely independent, but expect the USA to eye Upper Canada and the *Canadian west like a fat kid eyes cake.

First of all, those were small ragtag militias incapable of posing a serious military challenge to British forces in Canada. Mackenzie didn't even march on Toronto- used his "troops" to sack the houses of his Tory political opponents. In Quebec it was more serious but the British could just pour in as many reinforcements as they needed to suppress the rebellion.

The British couldn't curbstomp the US in 1775-1783 or 1812-15 and by 1830 America has a much larger population and a professional officer corp to lead its army. In short Britain rules the waves but the US can field a much larger army by this point all in all it probably ends in a draw.

And Britain doesn't have Napoleon to worry about and is closer to the height of it's power.

And yet the War of 1812 was essentially a stalemate for both sides. Even if the US fields a larger army, that does dick all if your coasts are blockaded by the world's most powerful navy that is sucking away your trade and royally screwing your economy.

For Pete's sake, tiny ol' Britain ruled over 1/4 of the world's population and controlled roughly 1/4 of the world's total surface area. Hell, they subjugated China. And let's be honest, the only reason Britain didn't curb stomp America in the War of 1812 is because they were busy dealing with Napoleon. The Anglo-American War was quite literally a sideshow to the British Empire. If Britain really wanted to, it could've wrecked America's shit.

It didn't have Nappy to worry about at New Orleans and look how that turned out.

Yeah, and look at how your "taking Canada will be a mere matter of marching" invasion turned out. As for the Battle of New Orleans, oh yes, take pride in a battle that occurred after the war ended. Fantastic. Great stuff you're giving us, bro.

Which is basically what I said this war would be, a draw. Blockade while being an effective weapon was less and less effective against the US as time went by due to the development of America's economy. A blockade would hurt yes but it didn't defeat America in 1776 or in 1812.

They conquered primitive peoples mainly in Asia and Africa she tried to conquer America in 1775-1783 and failed.

The US Army's poor performance can be attributed to a lack of properly trained officer corp which isn't an issue at this point. And the War of 1812 ended in March 1815 after the US Senate ratified the Treaty of Ghent.
Besides that I was pointing out what happens when a good leader leads a ragtag group of pirates and militiamen against a well trained battle hardened European army.

Britain would pillage America, plain and simple.

Vikings all over again.

Yeah, America would be fucked if they got involved. If not, Canada would be stronger today than they are in OTL. Simple as that.

Aside from small coastal settlements the American coast is heavily fortifiedby this time(their is a reason why the British avoided New York and Boston during the War of 1812). At most beside raiding small towns and villages the Royal Navy would do is sit of the coast and seize merchant ship and hunt down American commerce raiders.
