I have been thinking about this idea and lurking for a while now but have not ever posted before on here.
First off i know this has been asked about before but never done before and i have a TL in mind for this scenario i just have some questions.
the idea is that in 1943/4 the soviets for whatever reason decide to allocate a significant amount of troops and resources to the far east to prepare for the fight against and eventual liberation of japan. So the 1945 manchurian war with japan is more succesful sakhalin is taken early and hokkaido is invaded quickly this is before the americans can deploy their atomic bombs so japan is forced to surrend to both america and russia.
The result of this peace setllement is that america is given occupation over the south with tohoku and the north being given to the soviet occupation zone.
hokkaido has already established a communist state as it was invaded earlier but the rest is simply occupied .
My basic question is what would a good POD for the soviets allocating more resources and men to the far east.
