Plausability of a succesful Coptic rebellion?

Would it be possible for Copts to rebel against their Muslims overlords some time after their conquest? What would be the last possible date for it to happen? As far as I know, after the century of Arab rule, they didn't even dream about such scenario. Who would lead the rebellion? Personally, I don't see them rebelling while they are a part of a unified Caliphate, so maybe under the Tulunid dynasty?

To be clear, I would like to see an independent, Christian Egypt, with Coptic language of the upper classes, although the last one isn't necessary.

I would say probably not very likely. They weren't particularly well-armed and the rapid withdrawal of Roman troops, most of whom weren't locals, didn't help much. The Muslim armies had no use for arming them, the Arab settlers were more than enough of an armed force were one needed.

As second-class citizens they were restricted from gaining arms and without that no amount of desire for independence means much. They were pretty used to being ruled over by outsiders since Hellenistic times, and replacing heretical masters for Muslim ones isn't that much of a change.
