plausability, Lincoln radicalized by booth killing wife or son

Could someone have guessed booth's intentions grabbed him and booth have ended up killing Mary or perhaps Abe's son might have been in the box.

At his trial Booth would have declared the rightness of his racism.

Might this have persuaded Lincoln to do more for former slaves political and even economic rights?

I think killing Robert Todd Lincoln, would have pushed Mary over the edge, she had already lost Eddie and Willie, so the grief and depression, would have made living with her near impossible for Abraham.

Sadly, I do not think, Abe would put personal grievances above the need to strengthen his broken nation.

While that's likely true, if Tad or Mary had been killed instead and, thus, Lincoln lived, the reconstruction would almost certainly have gone better for freed slaves and the country in general -- Johnson was a disaster.
