Plausability D Day in Belguim or the Netherlands

Frisia the new SEA-ISLES THAT SHALL NOT BE NAMED:D

On topic not very, Northern France is going to be the Allied choice 99.99% of the time. When all factors are taken into account. Channel provides natural choke points to exclude the KM, Distance provides maximum sorties for AC/ Supply ships. Its in France(Thats a biggie for the Free French) and can thus be seen as liberating a major Ally

The Belgium coast was considered but discarded as the landing zones would either be too close to the German naval base in Ostend & it's associated defences or too easliy flooded by the Germans blocking the landing.

Holland had much the same problem. Practically all it's coast was riddled with dikes which the Allies expected the Germans to blow should a landing take place plus the seaports were heavily fortified.

Invading Holland would mean the Allies get stuck inside Fortress Holland, a defensive line of canals and flooded fields. They would have to pull off Overlord and Market Garden at the same time.

Flanders has the same problem, a lot of dikes and polders that can turn every field into another D-Day. If you look at the military history of the region almost every conflict was decided by rivers or flooded fields (including WW1). And the coastline was part of the Atlantic Wall, especially near Ostend.
