Plausability and what if Halifax Nazi pact August 39

Is it imaginable that a super appeaser administration would do roughly the equivalent to what Stalin and Hitler did.

I presume the Nazis first attack Poland and Barbarossa happens roughly May 1940.

Just how bad would this be?

Halifax was an appeaser but not a super appeaser and no Quisling nor did he want the European balance of power broken. See the recent "Halifax why?" thread for more detail. Can't see Samuel Hoare carrying it off either. However, assuming that Britain and France were prepared to do a pretty grubby secret deal with Nazi Germany:-
1) The military experts will give more detail but essentially Russia has a year less to recover from the military purges and introduce new tanks and transfer factories behind the Urals
2) Germany is presumably able to import food, minerals, textiles and munitions of war from the wider world economy via Britain and France. Not great for the USSR.

Without the plunder of Western Europe, the Germans don't have enough resources to defeat the Soviets. The Soviets-German trade wouldn't be that much as the Credit agreement of 1939 was signed in August as part of the negotiations that led to the M-R Pact-in this TL, there probably is no M-R pact or improvement of Nazi-Soviet relations. The German attack of 1940 burns out. The UK and France can then attack the Germans at their leisure in 1941 as the Germans would only have minimal forces guarding the West while the majority of their forces are involved in their Eastern European folly.
