Plantagenet Spain

I know that Edward of Westminister has a claim on the throne of Aragon from his mother, Margaret of Anjou but if both Edward of Westminister marries Isabella of Castille and unites the two crowns of aragon and castille, how would the valois react on the existence of an old enemy in their neighborhood.

The claim was quite flimsy, if it was a claim at all. René was offered the crown of Aragon when Catalonia revolted against John II. Bearing in mind that the war ended with the king reconciled with Catalonia and ruling his kingdom, that Edward married Isabel -that if he avoids getting killed in Tewkesbury, would hardly mattered in the end.

I was actually trying to get that in many of my aborted timelines, I think Ferdinand of Aragon not born must be the double pod for that to happen.

And you'll need then that Carlos de Viana also dies, as in OTL, and that anybody recognized the validity of the title, which is higly doubtful, as it was given to René by a Parliament which had rebelled against its king.

And if he Fernando dies, you have to get rid of his cousin, Enrique de Aragón y Pimentel and his future sons, just in case.

I think that John of Gaunt had better chances to become king of Castille than Edward of Aragon...:D

Simple, just have Isabella and Edward request Renat to have Edward to inherit Aragon and Catalonia and have Edward position himself as Prince of Girona, I think the French king may want that.

Yes, kill Enrique d'Aragon if there is a rebellion by him.

Yes, kill all the Royal Aragonese Family, why not...

From 1466 onwards, Castille was helping John II of Aragon against Renate, who was loosing badly.

And I suppose that there is no War of the Roses in England... or have the Lancastrians won against all odds?

The problem that we are going to face is that, once René d'Anjou accepts the Aragonese crown, Castille, that was helping the rebels, is going to switch sides and help John of Aragon.

Worse still, only Catalonia supported René. The rest of the Aragonese kingdom died with John.

So, you need René to win the war before 1470, before Ferdinand and Isabel become engaged. And then get rid of the elder brother of Margaret and heir of René... To many kills.

Let's keep it simple: May I suggest that, instead of having the Generalitat offering the crown to René, they offer it to Henry VI? Then you could marry Edward with Isabel...

I find it slightly plausible than the original premise. That way Castille will still be against John of Aragon. France may be a problem, though.

The question is how will Henry VI be given the throne of Catalonia, the other problem is Provence, I think Provence and Naples could go to the House of Guise or a branch of Valois-Anjou while the Lancasters get the Aragonese territories, I think that might make France happy and not a threat to the Lancastrian Aragon.
