Piri goes West

I am eagerly waiting for an update :)
Usually all the POD about Muslim empires are centered around the Ottomans. This one is different AND it starts with the fall of Granada. So will it rise again?

Update please! :)

Very, very lovely. There is a special place in my heart for the Muslim and Jewish Iberians regardless of their colorisn who came to the New World and how much they shaped the cultures and societies they landed in.

When it comes to Morocco and the United States there are two very interesting pieces of history.

1.The Moors Sundry Act of 1790: Although dubiously claiming to be Moroccan several Free Africans were able to gain white citizen status as supposed Subjects to the Sultan of Morocco, Mohammed ben Abdallah in South Carolina

Inspite of the law any enslaved Moroccan or Arabic speaking African (or using the ambiguous English title "Moor") were still to remain bonded.

2.Abdulrahman Ibrahim Ibn Sori a Prince, Warrior and Scholar of Fouta Djallon was enslaved and sent to Mississippi, from there he was able to meet a man who attempted to free him by claiming he was Moroccan.

Ibn Sori was allowed to send a letter to the US Consulate in Morocco giving his actual story in Arabic and the Sultan Abd al-Rahman of Morocco pressed the President and Secretary of State to free him which might surprise some since Sori was a "black African" but also goes to show how royal and Islamic peoples were treated in the eyes of a Moroccan Sultan who himself was dealing with Western Power, Expansion and Imperialism.

I look forward to were this will go, Muslim Africans were known for their skill and hesitancy to remain subservient. The D.R. dealt with Wolof doing Jihad and tried to stop them from coming, P.R. banned Muslim enslaved peoples as well and for year from Mexico to Chile there were enslaved muslims accused of spreading the faith or leading Wars of Natives and non-Muslim Africans.
