Pim Fortuyn Survives The Murder Attempt, Which killed Him.

If 'The Pimp' survives the attempt to kill him relatively intact, how does it change Dutch society? Can he become PM? Would we have heard of Gert Wilders? Would Theo Van Gogh still be with us? I always thought it was an animals rights activist which sent him to his eternal reward, but he actually seems to have been defending the rights of Islamic people at least in his own head.

Well I'd guess Gert Wilders would have left the VVD and joined Fortuyn considering their common ground on Islam, not being Dutch I don't know who was the more effective politician but probably a less successful anti-Islam right without the boost of the assassinations.

No No double No! Geert Wilders and Pim Fortuyn are nothing alike in their views on Islam or (at least in the case of the Geert Wilders of those days) social-economic issues. Geert Wilders thinks Muslims are people who don't belong in Europe and should go 'back' to their 'native' countries. Pim Fortuyn always said that the people in the Netherlands are OUR concern and shouldn't be send anywhere else.

OP: It's pretty difficult. There are to views on this issue:

1. The view that thinks Fortuyn would have won a even greater victory then his party had after his death. This could very well propel Fortuyn in the position to become PM.

2. The view that thinks the LPF got more votes because of the death of Fortuyn. The LPF gets fewer seats but doesn't go bananas because Fortuyn is there to lead it.

The Netherlands would have been worse off with Pim fortuyn leading the assault against the Islam then Geert Wilders. Mostly because Pim was way smarter then Geert is, plus he had a much larger support group.

We would probably be facing a change in the constitution. If that happens, i'm gonna put on my Guy Fawkes mask.

You can call Wilders a lot of things, but he is not dumb. Anyway, you can't compare Fortuyn and Wilders, they're worlds apart in their viewpoints.

I'm not saying Wilders is dumb, unfortunately he is not. But Pim Fortuyn was smarter.

They where both Anti-islam, but Pim Fortuyn expressed it better.

So Fortuyn was less extreme and thus more likely to get serious traction, or rather even more serious traction. Or would Wilders and Fortuyn split the vote?
