So after the Polish- Soviet war Roman Dmowski and the National Democracy party were in charge of peace negotiations with the Soviets. What if Pilsudski had been in charge instead?

possible independant ukraine or an union of poland and ukraine? Pilsudski had the dream of reforming the polish commonwealth, at least its 1764 form and after the treaty, he personnaly apologized to the ukrainian nationalists for the "polish's betrayal". But man's wishes and reality are not always the same thing.

Didn't the Soviets actually offer Dmowski more of Ukraine and Belarus, but Dmowski turned it down, because the number of Belarussians and Ukrainians within Poland would be too large for his idea of a ethnic state. Which of course is the opposite of Pilsudski's idea of a federation (dominated by Poles, let's not pretend Ukrainians, Belarussians and Lithuanians would be anything but 2nd class citizens in Pilsudski's new Commonwealth).

So, the thing I'm trying to figure out is if Pilsudski was in charge and got the same offer Dmowski got, would he accept it, or see it as a poisoned chalice and like Dmowski turn it down.

This is often repeated, but I remember I once wanted to get to the sources and couldn't find such offer. It might be that I haven't digged deep enough. ;)
Same here, I have tried to find sources for this too, since it interest me, I for example haven't seen any clear defintion of exactly what was offered other than "more of Ukraine and Belarus".
