Pilsudski at the Boxer Rebellion

What if Pilsudski, dissatisfied with the Russian rule over Poland, travelled to China in 1900, just as the Boxer Rebellion was happening? With Germany and Austria ruling his country and the others being allies of Russia or having imperialist thoughts, who would he side with or support?

nobody, he would think that all those imperialist pigs are against the great nation of Poland. which means he would side wiht the boxers themselves, perhaps.
but then, 2 questions arise:
1. will the boxers themselves accept him as their own? they are strictly anti-foreigner and a white guy would look just as foreign, amicable or no.
2. will that be any help, if he was accepted? it just adds one more dead to the list. perhaps he will be taken by the Russians, used as an excuse to be more heavyhanded on the Poles.
anyways, wouldn't be much help to anything. that's my guess.

I doubt he would side with anyone. Wait till the bullets stop flying and then take a lay of the land.

A call for Poles to set up an enclave in China?

...

Because Jozef Pilsudzki was dissatisfied with Russian rule over Poland, he was taking part in socialist movement in Russia, aiming to overthrow the rule of tsars.

There's no reason for Pilsudzki to travel to China.

Why would he look to set up an enclave in China of all places? Look, the point of Pilsudzki's actions was to re-create an independent Poland in historic Polish lands, not on the other side of the world.

There's no reason for Pilsudzki to travel to China.

You have just given a very good reason for him to do so:

he was taking part in socialist movement in Russia, aiming to overthrow the rule of tsars.

We need only assume the Tsar's Okhrana are more ruthless and rather than preferring to exile trouble makers, decide that the only good revolutionary is a dead revolutionary. After all, Trotsky didn't go to Mexico city because he liked enchiladas.

You misunderstood. It's not about unlikeliness of Pilsudzki moving to other country - OTL he did move to Austro-Hungary. But there's no point of him going to China. For that to change, you'd need strong and hostile-to-Russia China. OTL, it was neither.

But there's no point of him going to China...

...except that it might be harder for an agent of the Okhrana to locate him there than in a European city. China need not be strong, just a good location to disappear into.

but why China? why not somewhere remote enough that he could simply disappear off the books and records- like Russia?:D:D:D:D

If Pilsudski wasn't able to stay in A-H because it was too hot, he'd either move to London or failing that the United States, preferably a city with a large Polish population like Chicago.

Pilsudski needs to be someplace where he organize an anti-Russian Polish resistance. Going to China doesn't help that.

If for some bizarre reason he did go to China, he'd do nothing during the Boxer Rebellion because nothing he would do there would help Poland in anyway whatsoever. Simply because he is white, he'd probably need to flee to the European & American legations and wait for the rescue.
