Brazil: Integralist vs. Legionary
Plinio_Salgado.png

Plinio Salgado - Leader of the Fascist Party the Brazilian Integralist Action (Officially: The Popular Representation Party). He is a Fascist with very Pro-OFN views, and is appalled of Nazi Germany for its racial policies and it's practice of slavery. Salgado and his Integralists goals are for the creation of a Catholic Fascist Republic under a Union of All Races, seeking to unite all races. He is sponsored by both the Italians under Scorza's Regime and the OFN-States such as the USA.

Gustavo Barroso - Leader of the National Socialist Party the Brazilian Legionairy Front Party - A Highly Racist, Antisemitic and Pro-German offshoot of the Integralists. He seeks to emulate German Nazism in Brazil, as well establish racial policies something that the Integralists are appalled of and oppose considering their idea of a Catholic Fascist State calling for a Union of All Races. He gained notoriety sending Volunteers to the German Civil War to aid Bormann's Forces.

Since there hasn't been much posting on this thread for a while and Don't Surf has been out for a few days, I thought I'd make a post on the South African War to celebrate the release of the 2nd demo and to renew interest in this thread.

American soldiers trekking through the forests of Ostafrika. Advances into Hüttig's territory proved to be the most dangerous, as the colonial tyrant saw fit to place many traps throughout the border regions of his territory, which claimed countless American and South African lives.

A native protest being brutally cracked down on by the South African police. Events like these would only exacerbate the tensions between the natives and the government, and would help contribute to the ANC's revolt in the South African War.

Yeah, the Integralists are republican. They're only monarchist in KRTL because of Portuguese influence and inspiration, plus monarchism being significantly strengthened in KRTL.

There is another reason.

The pro monarchy moviment was the Brazilian patrinovista order, led by Arlindo Veiga Santos, the black knight. On kaiserreich both moviments are just one, so much that Arlindo is the empire prime minister.

One of the first documentaries on the German victory of the second world war, from the British perspective. While some might call it "part documentary, part propaganda reel", this is largely due to direct interference from Joseph Goebbels, current propaganda minister for Germany at the time. The film contained numerous summaries of the "injustices" done to Germany in the First World War, the potential for future British-German "cooperation", and personal instructions on what to do, how to act, and the best ways to lend a helping hand to their "brothers in arms."

Some of the producers and staff working on "It Happened Here" were suspected of having ties to HMMLR and other resistance groups, and remained under surveillance until late into the 1950s.

Captain America remained both a popular superhero in both the Pre-War and Post-War era of American Politics. Though multiple parties and party wings would call upon his name or use him for different propaganda purposes. Though his popularity later waned, he would remain one of the more memorable Avengers, with several different retellings of his story, ranging from Old Man Steve (who was never frozen, but would continue fighting for his country and aiding the Avengers as a consultant until the end of the cold war), 'Popsicle' Cap (In an alternate marvel universe, Steve Rogers is frozen near the end of World War II, and emerges from the ice in the 2000s to fight new threats. This one would be used for the more modern movies.) and finally, Hydra Cap. (In an alternate timeline where Germany has a total, global victory splitting the world between German and Japan spheres of dominance, Steve Rogers is captured and brainwashed.)

Needless to say, very few Americans liked the "Hydra" Captain America novels, but they sold well abroad.

Zakumania never faded. Through the late 1960s to even today, Space Defender Zaku would remain one of the more "classic" animations of Japan's time. Though the show bent the way the political winds blew, the premise would constantly remain the same. Over time, as tensions cooled between Japan, Germany, and America, a new battlefield was born; Crossovers.

Space Defender Zaku vs the Power Rangers, Astro Boy vs Superman, Indiana Jones vs Reichskommisar Josias and Sigfreid Muller remained three of the most seen and most controversial crossovers of the 1970s. Though most films would inevitably end up in a team-up against a greater threat, others would end in incredibly controversial debates, ranging from newspaper editorials and arguments on the street to internet debates, decades later.

His Imperial Majesty Showa of Japan during the first state visit on american soil, 1975, shortly after the start of the american-japanese detente

Such detente was a last ditch attemp by the japanese empire to prevent a US take over of it's pacific holdings, as a year before Japan handed vladivostok to the Soviet Union in exhange for help in the war on China. At the final stage of the visit, Showa signed the treaty returning the trade ports on the US east coast in exange for the USA recognizing the Japanese puppet Kingdom on Hawai. While many criticiezed such a instance by the part of the US government, a reassurgent Germany under chancellor Albert Speer had become the main target by the US diplomacy after succesfull diplomatic actions, including the entry of falangist spain on the Unity Pakt, and so the acting US president tough it was worthy sacrifying Hawaii to save europe and finally normalize relations with Japan.

On the following year, Japan defeated the last two major stronholds of the chinese resistance, bombing Chongqing to the ground and neutralizing Yan'an, ending the Greater Asian War definitively.

It’s going to be interesting as to how America will be trying to justify this considering that Japan will be spending the next few years genociding countless millions of people throughout China.

USA: We shall protect freedom and democracy at any cost and end the tyrannical oppression of Nazi Germany and the Empire of Japan towards the peoples in their spheres of influence!
China: Awesome, can you get Japan to stop trying to erase me from existence?
USA sweats nervously

Dude, this is the USA. They were crucial in installing and even keeping dictatorships that bleed entire south American countries, they invaded Guatemala and installed a sucession of us approved dictators, they kept Nicaragua occupied as a de facto colony from 1912 to 1933. The USA have the aesthetics of a enlightened democracy's, but this doesn't always translate into actions.

On this tl they needed to focus on Europe so sacrificed China to end the Pacific front.

Trust me, I’m well aware of my country’s horrific history with regime change. I’m just making a joke on the scenario you presented, since the USA turning a blind eye to Japan’s mistreatment (to put it extremely lightly) of China to focus on Nazi Germany was funny to me in how hypocritical it was. It’s kind of a dark comedy thing for me, especially since this is TNO, and dark comedy is kind of it’s thing when things aren’t either horrifically awful or hugely depressing.

Something based on the fact he starts out as the starting leader of the Philippines:

Filipino dictator Benigno Aquino Jr, infamous for his dictatorship over the Philippines over a period of three decades from 1958 to 1988 when he was overthrown in a pro-democracy revolution with his dictatorship being infamous for being amongst the most corrupt in human history, for the massacre of political dissidents, who often disappeared at night, the lavish lifestyle President Aquino and his wife Corazon had, and the genocide of Chinese-Filipinos committed by the Aquino regime.

Harry S. Truman giving a speech to his supporters in Hampton, Virginia.

The 1948 American presidential election was the most hotly contested presidential election in American history. The five main candidates were incumbent President Harry S. Truman of the Democratic Party, Thomas E. Dewey of the Republican Party, who had previously ran against Truman in 1944, Henry A. Wallace of the Progressive Party, Richard Russell Jr. of the States' Rights Party, and Earl Browder of the Communist Party.

Harry S. Truman oversaw the American war effort during World War Two, and America's loss in that war greatly harmed his public image. His association with former President Joseph P. Kennedy Sr., who many blamed for America's lack of readiness for the conflict, didn't help matters either. Despite this, some believed that Truman stood a chance, and this would later lead to the infamous "Truman Defeats Dewey" headline from the Chicago Daily Tribune, which was held up by Dewey following his victory in the election. Truman was the last presidential candidate of the Democrats, as the party would decline greatly in the years following this election.

A colorized photo of Dewey giving a speech during his campaign tour in California.

During his presidential run, Dewey aggressively criticized Truman's poor handling of the war effort, and made foreign policy one of the primary issues of his campaign. He railed against the signing of the Akagi Accords and believed that America must have a stronger role in the international stage in order to fight off the influence of Germany and Japan. Dewey's message hit home to many Americans, including returning WW2 veterans who were bitter over America's loss in the war. This is seen as one of the main factors in Dewey's victory. Ironically, Dewey and Truman would later be two of the main people responsible for the merging of the Democratic and Republican Parties following this election, as both men believed this could ensure future stability for the United States.

A gathering of Henry Wallace's supporters during the 1948 Progressive Party Convention.

Henry Wallace, a known progressive political figure from Iowa, rose to prominence as the newly-founded Progressive Party's presidential candidate. Like Dewey, Wallace called for a more interventionist foreign policy against Germany and Japan, whom he called "the greatest evils that taint God's earth" during one of his speeches, but would also advocate for an end to Jim Crow in the South, major economic reform in the US, agricultural reform, and aid to the Russian people. While he did attract many black voters with his pro-civil rights stance, he was considered too radical to many in the government and rumors of communist sympathies in Wallace's inner circle alienated many voters in the North and Mid-West. The Progressive Party would later reform into the National Progressive Front, which ran Wallace's running mate, Glen H. Taylor, as their candidate in the 1952 election, where they performed slightly better. Later on, the National Progressive Front would become the center-left wing of the NPP, and Wallace became one of the party’s significant leftist figures.

Richard Russell Jr. standing alongside his supporters in Mississippi.

After Truman decided to desegregate the US military during WW2, many Southern Democrats abandoned the party and established a political party of their own, known as the States' Rights Party. Their chosen candidate was Richard Russell Jr., the Senator of Georgia. Though Russell would find much support in the Deep South, the party's support of segregation alienated other voters, and Russell would find little support in other areas of the country. This was the only presidential election the States' Rights party participated in, as the party would later merge with Patton's Patriotic Party, who ran the as their presidential candidate in 1952, where their focus on revanchism earned them the Pacific states in that election.

Earl Browder accepting the Communist Party's nomination for the presidential race.

Originally, many in the Communist Party wanted to endorse Henry Wallace in this election, but others saw Wallace as too moderate and hoped to preserve the socialist cause after the collapse of the Soviet Union in the 40s. Earl Browder, who had previously been the party's candidate in the 1940 election, was chosen once more as the party's presidential candidate. Browder did perform significantly better than previous candidates of the Communist Party, winning the states of Oklahoma and Kansas, despite 3 Oklahoma electors and 6 Kansas electors choosing to support Dewey. Aside from that, Browder found little support anywhere else, as many Americans found little interest in communism. After 1948, the Communist Party once again fell into political obscurity, and they wouldn't run a candidate in the next election, deciding instead to endorse Glen H. Taylor's presidential campaign. Many members of the Communist Party would later defect to the NPP, where they would make up much of the party’s far-left wing.
I think Jay Lovestone would stand from the CPUSA. Browder was a Stalinist, while Lovestone supported Bukharin, who leads TNO's USSR

So Marcos’ main opponent becomes our Marcos expy?
Ironic.
