He looks familiar, do I see him from somewhere before?🧐🤔

Prime Minister Gamal Abdel Nasser in full military dress. He would serve as both the Prime Minister and Minister of Warfare if the Sultanate of Egypt and the Levant from 1954 to 1966 when he would retire due ti health reasons after suffering a major heart attack.

First coming to prominence as one of the new graduates of King Farouk’s newly chosen “Mechanised Warfare” school of though.

He would make a name for himself during the Arab Liberation Wars as a unit leader within the 1st Mechanised Infantry brigade where he would distinguish himself in Liberation of Al Quds before getting wounded in Anatolia and spending the rest of the war in the hospital.

He would then be sent by the government to get further education and training in the Commune of France as part of the Egyptian participation in the Phalansteré before volunteering to lead the Egyptian volunteer brigade during the 2nd Weltkreig, where he would partake in the liberation of Tunisia and the grand battle of Algiers.
By the time the war ends he will’ve become a household name in Egypt, having been personally honoured by hing Farouk himself during the peace celebrations in 46 and even got his own stamp minted in his honour across the Arab world.

From there he would go on to lead the Sultanate’s forces during the Arab-Ethiopian wars, being personally present during Emperor Haile Selassie’s surrender.

Needless to say, all these victories have cemented his image as Egypt’s 2nd favorite son behind only Sultan Farouk himself in popularity. His years of education in France had left him with a strong affinity towards Socialism and Liberalism, that coupled with his reputation as Egypt’s war hero made it incredibly easy for him to win the leadership of the Egyptian National Democratic Party (SocDems) despite his young age, and from there it was a sure shot to being elected as Prime minister.

As prime minister he would try to play all sides of the global scales of power, maintaining the close Egyptian ties with the UoB and the 3I, but also trying to forge closer relationships with the US and the Commonwealth of Canada.

He would also work tirelessly to transform the league of Arab nations from a mere military alliance with limited economic and cultural cooperation into something more based on the Third International’s model, with full economic and cultural integration between member states, his Magnum Opus being the formalisation of the Arab Common Market that worked to integrate the entire Middle East economically, and the formation of the Islamic Scholarly Council, an organisation compromised of the greatest Islamic scholars in the world at the time including the Egyptian and Hashemite Grand Muftis as well as the Persian Shaikhul Islam that would work to codify, organise and in a sense modernise Islamic laws and Fiqh within the member states.

It was an organisation made specifically to supplant the Ottoman Emperor’s claims to being the highest religious authority on the counts of him being Khalifa, a goal which it had been incredibly successful at, judging by the fact that even non Arab-league member nations have sought out and gained seats on the council, including the Commune of Tunis, the Algerian Socialist republic and the Indian Empire.

Domestically he would see the final transformation of Egypt from a feudal kingdom into the modern, constitutional monarchy that Sultan Farouk had originally envisioned back in the 1930s. He would copy a lot from what he saw in the CoF all those years ago, implementing free welfare, healthcare and education programs, as well as seeing to the finalisation of the land reforms originally decreed by the Sultan in the early 40s.

He would also learn from the Russian model, going on a massive industrialisation effort to help cement Egypt’s place as the economic and industrial powerhouse of the Arab League, especially in the face of rising challenges to Egypt’s leadership position from the newly oil rich Iraq and Hashemite Arabia.

A sudden heart attack in 66 as well as his worsening diabetes and general health would see to Abdel Nasser’s retirement from his position as both Prime Minister and Minister of War, but he would remain as the head of the National Democratic Party and his Pan-Arabic, “Socialist Monachy” ideology (later on dubbed Nasserism and Faroukism) would dominate not only Egyptian, but Arab political ideology for decades to come and up to this very day.

On the 28’th of September 1970, Gamal Abdel Nasser Pasha would suffer a major heart attack while in his estate on the outskirts of Cairo, he would be rushed to the King Fuad Military Hospital where he would die hours later. His funeral would be attended by millions including leaders and representatives from every Arab nation as well as representatives from the UoB and CoF.

Ignore the fact that the stamp has his date of death and his title as President on it, lol. I posted this from my phone so I couldn’t really edit it out.

Peter O’toole, Gamil Ratib and Omar Al Sharif in the 1962 classic Lawrence of Arabia.

As part of a major campaign to normalise the relationship between the 3I and the Arab league and in an attempt to gloss over the glaring ideological differences between the monarchical Arabs and staunchly Republican British publics, movies such as the classic Lawrence of Arabia were created, all of said movies were joint productions with British/European actors and Egyptian actors sharing the lead.

Laurence of Arabia, in addition to its great cinematography and acting itself, was also a genius work of propaganda, it celebrated the heroism and the “independent spirit” of the Arabs in the failed first revolt against Ottoman rule, it also celebrated a hero of the revolution that is T.E. Lawrence, someone beloved by Arabs and Brits alike. The closing scene of the movie, depicting the real T.E Lawrence, reunited with some of the surviving Arab veterans who fought by his side during the first revolt, and joined by the leaders of the 1938 Arab Liberation Wars remains a staple in Arab-Anglo propaganda efforts.

One of the most unusual and perhaps ironic results of the 2nd Weltkreig is the close relationship that started between the Sultanate of Egypt and the third international, a relationship that would only blossom more after the end of the war itself.

What originally started as an alliance of convenience between the UoB and Egypt in order to take down a potential German ally (the Ottomans) ended up becoming a true partnership with the Egyptian Sultanate officially joining the Phalanstere and even joining in the war (in an unofficial capacity) by sending volunteer brigades to fight in Algiers as well as providing logistical and non-combat support to the international.

After the war, even though many (even inside the British and Egyptian governments) expected that alliance of convenience to end, it actually only grew closer, Egypt, and by extension the Arab League, were after all a readily available and hungry market to European goods, and more importantly, a readily available source of much needed raw materials, chief amongst them of course is Arab oil, used to literally and figuratively fuel the European post war reconstruction process.

On the other hand, the Egyptians needed more than anything else the 3I’s scientific and economic expertise to help them carry out King Farouk’s envisioned Industrial Revolution to truly transform Egypt if a backwards nigh-feudal state into a modern regional power with a happy and empowered populace.

The relationship would get a little strained during the 1960s and late 50s during Chairman Mosley’s time in office mainly due to the aggressive stance he took in Africa in his attempt to bring the Kingdom of Kongo, and republics of Ostafrika and SudwestAfrika Africa under 3I control and the heavy pressure he put on the Egyptian government to support 3I efforts in the region, leading to a breakdown in relationship between his government and the government of Prime Minister Nasser, a break down which eventually gave chance for Russia and the U.S. to sneak their way into Cairo.

After the end of the Kongo wars however and Chairman Mosley’s retirement as leader of the UoB 3I-Arab relations were quick to return to their previous warmness.

The US managed to exploit the break in Anglo-Egyptian relations that happened during the Mosley chairmanship to break into the Egyptian market, signing the “Military revitalisation agreement” between both countries which gave American fencer contractors huge contracts to modernise the Egyptian Navy and Airforce.

The agreement also sited that Egypt would contract American companies to finish multiple public work projects in Egypt, including the Daba’a Nuclear reactor and Suez Canal expansion project, replacing French and British companies that would’ve usually been contracted for such projects and moving the Arab League generally more towards the American “Democratic League” instead of the European Internationale.

This takes place in a universe separate from the one in my previous posts with Nasser in Egypt, in this one Pelley takes over the US, only to lead it to ruin.

Pelley and his Commonwealth of America ruled over the continental US for almost a decade. A decade where all the nations educational, cultural and propaganda resources where under the full control of Pelley and the Silver Legion. And so it is understandable that even though the commonwealth ended up falling in the horrific American Campaigns, the stain of Pelley-ism still persists to this day.

This can be seen clearly in just how difficult it had been for an sort of civil rights/social justice movement to take place anywhere outside the APU and Black Belt republic, the rampant white supremacy and the fact that the Klan and to an extent the silver legion are still alive in certain corners of the Great Plains republic.

In 1954, President Pelley took a decision that may have in the beginning appeared to be just a new chapter in his book of madness, but would soon after prove to be a the beginning of the end of his empire.

The orders to cross the Northern border and strike at the dominion of Canada were at first ignored by the international community, Japan couldn’t care less what the American were doing as they were busy reorganising the Co-prosperity sphere after their victory in the Pacific and their defeat in China.
The 3I was initially actually glad, “let the imperialists tear at each others throats” they said, this is bound to end up in a major workers uprising and the death of Capitalism after all.

All that changed however when the world woke up to the news that not only has Pelley beat the Brits and Russians in developing the A-bomb, he actually gave the go ahead for its use on the Canadian capital. Suddenly all his threats of raising Japan to the ground to reclaim Hawaii or breaking the UoB to form a grand Anglo-Saxon kingdom of god did not sound like just the empty ramblings of a madman.

Declassified CIC reports from the UoB.

Of course, since rise of the Commonwealth in America, the global intelligence agencies have been keeping a close eye on the country, with the British Central Intelligence Committee being no exception. Once the bombing of Ottawa happened, the CIC and RED activities were kicked into overdrive, with Chairman Mosley directing them towards gathering as much Intel as needed to present him with at least the broad lines of an invasion plan and assessing the chances of creating a new Totalist, socialist state within the post Pelley republic.

His dream of a Totalist nation would come true with the formation of the Black Belt Republic after the defeat and death of Pelley and the balkanisation of the Commonwealth of America.

In my next post I will give a more detailed description of the American Wars and the post Pelley USA, but until then, here is a little previews, a map of Post Pelley North America.

French military advisors in the Central American Republic carrying their FMT (Fusil-mitrailleur) rifles, circa 1950

The Commune of France supports a variety of Syndicalist militia groups across the globe, groups that include the Central American Frente de Resistencia Syndalistica (FRS). The FRS was formed in the aftermath of the American-led Entente invasion following the disastrous Southern Internationale attacks on Brazil and the United States on February 14th 1941.

The FRS and many other insurgency networks in Latin America sustain themselves through the illicit drugs trade and what little support from the Internationale can smuggle through the strict international sanctions placed on its member states. One of the primary ways of support is via weapon shipments. Although an emphasis is placed on delivering old Second or even First Welkreig equipment for the sake of plausible deniability (significant amounts of military equipment were sent prior to the Second Weltkrieg), the new FMT rifles being put into use by the Communard military have been put to test in Latin America.

German Panzer units in the Ardennes forest, circa 1941

In the immediate aftermath of the initial invasion of Germany in September 15th, 1940, the Kaiser approved a massive armored thrust through the Ardennes forest to cut Internationale lines in half. Generals such as Manstein believed that the poor showing of the Communard army during its invasion of Switzerland proved the poor quality of French forces, and that "kicking in the door" would be all it took to take the Communard Army down.

What they failed to notice was the military reforms the French communists implemented following the war and the massive push for the mechanization of the military in the Commune, and the large and modern air force they boasted. The entire German Panzer and mechanized force was spotted a mile away by Internationale reconnaissance. Seeing opportunity, a massive air and artillery strike was ordered on the force led by General Erwin Rommel.

The attack decimated the tank and truck force, killing its field commander, one General Erwin Rommel, in the process. This single attack destroyed 300 German Panzers and 1000 trucks, effectively killing Germany's standing tank force. It is commonly cited as one of the decisive moments during the Second Weltkrieg.
