The events following the death of General Secretary William Z. Foster in 1956 are known for it's many interpretations, usually based on the person you are asking. The "Maine Revolution", "Maine spring" or even "Main betrayal" was a huge scale wave of public unrest and civil disobedience following the appointing of a new totalist chairman to replace the late Foster. Maine have been one of the most liberal-progressive states on the USAS and the last drop that made the unrest start was a order by Chairman John J. Ballam to replace the current state comissioner with a Syndicalist inclined one, resulting on the acting comissioner to sign a order declaring the independence of the "Maine republic". The tanks rolled and the rest is history.

180px-Qi_Xieyuan.jpg

A rare photograph of Qi Xieyuan following the collapse of the Nanjing Clique, believed to have been taken sometime during the 40s.

Following Sun Chuanfang's death, Qi Xieyuan immediately took over the crumbling League, hoping to salvage what remained and turn it into his own personal fiefdom with the aid of Germany. However, few in China supported what appeared to just a continuation of German dominace over China, leading to mass revolts against Qi's rule and numerous cliques breaking off from the League. Qi's grasp on power quickly began to slip as his meager army was quickly overwhelmed by the forces of the Anqing Clique, Shangqing Tianguo, and the Left-KMT all converging on his territory at once. The Nanjing Clique collapsed in a matter of months, and the defeated warlord was forced to flee into exile.

Following his fall from power, Qi would spend the remainder of his life in exile. He first fled to Shanghai with whatever wealth he managed to take with him in hopes of securing a passage to Berlin in order to garner more support from the Kaiserreich for more troops and supplies, but Germany's economic problems at home meant that they had little interest in supporting their failed Chinese puppet. Dejected, Qi would spend the next several months courting the Japanese faction in the Legation Cities, hoping to garner support from them in order to make a return to the mainland, but the Japanese Empire had little use for a failed puppet of European imperialism.

The collapse of the Legation Cities forced Qi to abandon China entirely and flee elsewhere. He initially stayed in the Philippines, but the sudden eruption of the Second American Civil War forced Qi to flee due to the political chaos that erupted in the country. He managed to find a quiet home on one of the islands of German East Asia, where he stayed for a couple of years, but he was forced to flee again following Insulindia's invasion of Germany's Pacific colonies, and finally settled in the Kingdom of Hawaii, where he remained for the rest of his life. Qi Xieyuan died on March 27th, 1959, alone and largely forgotten.

A rare colorized photo of American businesswoman Lena McGrath in the Republic of Ireland, 1937. Famed American socialite and sister to millionaire Lex Luthor, Lena left the States shortly before the Second American Civil War to set up her own business in her mother's homeland of Ireland. Her company, McGrath Stationary and Office Supplies, became a financial success story as her products such as the 'Stilo' ballpoint pen and InstaMath miniaturized mechanical calculator became extremely popular in Germany and the other members of the Reichspakt/Mittleuropa. With her newly earned fortune she quickly expanded her business empire, setting up new factories in Limerick, Cork and Belfast, making her the wealthiest woman in Ireland. This caused a great deal of controversy with the more conservative elements of Irish society, with both the Fine Gael government and certain local members of the Catholic Church. However, her progressive stance of providing good pay, healthcare and other benefits to her employees and being a benefactor of Sinn Fein, helped earn her a great deal of popular support.

As wells a being a generous ally to Sinn Fein, she also lead one of their irregular militias, which was rare even among the progressive Irish left-wing group. However, her leadership was instrumental in defending the costal town of Bray from the infamous alien attack of '37. However, while she was indeed credited for doing her part to save the town, it was her alliance with the British Wonder 'Superwoman' that prevented Bray's destruction. It has been theorized by many historians that in spite of Ireland's stance on Syndicalism and the Union of Britian, Lena and the mysterious Superwoman retained a close friendship, given the reports of strange sightings near her manor in Rathfarnham.

Katayama Sen, Prime Minister of empire of japan from (1940-1945) appointed by Emperor Hirohito after failed Kodoha coup, it managed to turn Shakai Taishuto, a social democratic party into one of three main parties of Japan. Similar trend has been seen in Reichspakt as well, like Otto Wels becoming chancellor in 1942.

However, his policy of Anti-Syndicalism including crushing of Syndicalist uprising in keijo in 1944 made him hated by Japanese far-left.

Joseph_Epstein.jpg

General Joseph Epstein of the French Communal Army. As a leading Anarchist figure within the French Army Epstein was already ill-disposed towards the Sorelian movement, but as a Jew, who Sorelian leader Georges Valois openly stated were controlling the world Monarcho-Capitalist movement behind the scenes, he was practically the top of the regime's hitlist when they took power. While Secret Police chief Jacques Doirot was able to, with Syndicalist collaboration, purge the Jacobins rather easily, as well as most anarchists who openly opposed the regime, Epstein's status as a war hero from the French Civil War meant that this was far more difficult where he was concerned. When he was found dead in June of 1936, thee government called it suicide, apparently over his guilt from being born Jewish. As many leftist opponents of the regime suspected, however, and as was proven when German soldiers took Paris in 1943, Epstein was in fact assassinated by the Doirot's Vigilance Committees, the French Secret Police. Since then, Epstein's death has driven an unbridgeable wedge between Anarchists and Totalists, and Epstein himself has become a martyr for Anarchism; "Epstein didn't kill himself!" is a popular slogan for counter-protestors at Neo-Totalist rallies, and for Anarchist resistance movements within existing Totalist regimes.
