The Ghost Train - a 1941 thriller/comedy film from the Union of Britian. Set during the Second Weltkrieg era, the film follows an eclectic group of British citizens which includes a stand-up comedian, a civil engineer, a People's Policewoman, a factory foreman and an elderly officer of the Home Guard. When they are forced to change trains at a lonely station in Cornwall, the stationmaster tells them a local legend of train that crashed into the river decades earlier, and that a phantom train appears on foggy nights, continuing its run. The story concludes with the warning that those who look upon it are driven mad or frightened to death.

After a few hijinks and scares, the protagonists discover that 'ghost train' is hoax used by a group of Royalists to smuggle weapons to Canada. By the end of the film, the plot is exposed, and the members of the fifth column are captured by members of the Home Guard and the Republican Army.

The film is still considered as a cult classic in the UoB to this day, with a reboot starring Orlando Bloom being developed.

Encantadia is a 2005 Philippine-Pacific States television drama fantasy series broadcast by GMA Network in the Philippines and FOX in the Pacific States. The series is the first installment of the Encantadia franchise. It stars Sunshine Dizon, Iza Calzado, Karylle, Diana Zubiri, Dingdong Dantes and Jennylyn Mercado. The series concluded on December 9, 2005 with a total of 160 episodes.

After the end of the war, it was decided by the allies that Japan is to be divided, China is to take ownership of Manchuria and the Legation cities, Korea would be made a free, sovereign nation and Formosa would become an American vassal, mainland Japan itself would be split between the US and Russia, roughly right around the line that their armies reached, and, to make sure neither side can claim to have the "legitimate" Japan on their side, Japanese monarchy would be abolished and the Royal family would be sent into comfortable exile in the Canada.

Initially, the Vietnamesische Nationalarmee (Vietnamese National Army - VNA) was formed by transferring Indochinese units from the DFOEK to the new force. This included the Vietnamese battalions from Colonial regiments,Vietnamese battalions and companies which had been attached to elite colonial units, and the bawouans - the Indochinese paratroop battalions. These hardened units tended to be the élite around which the rest of the VNA was formed.

On the 15th July 1941, General Friedrich von Kesseinger convinced the fledgling Vietnamese Government to order a general mobilisation of the new VNA - i.e. conscription in Vietnam. Unfortunately this did not quite work as planned. Large numbers of the conscripts did not turn up, and many of those who did proved to be unfit for service. However, the VNA did increase from 65,000 men in January 1941, to 128,000 by December of that year.

To provide the Vietnamese officers required by this new army, von Kesseinger set up the Kombinierte Waffen-Militärschule (Combined Military Academy) at Dalat. together with Regional Military Academies. During 1941, some 800 Vietnamese officers joined the VNA. The quality of the VNA units varied enormously. Some officers and NCOs - particularly in the ex-Colonial or para units, were efficient and effective, but many were political appointées with no real interest in the army. Units ranged from tough and resiliant formations the equal of anything in the DFOEK, to ineffective ones which deserted en masse. There were also significant numbers of VM agents in the ranks of the VNA...
