German invasion of Britain or Operation Seelöwe was the German naval attack against Britain. The first German troops landed in Hull and near it on the 26th of May 1943. The invasion was postponed in 1942 due to the Russian attack, but after 6 months of fighting a ceasefire had been signed between Germany and Russia. It was decide to commence the operation on the 1st of May. The first troops to land were Fallschirmjägers, who secured bridges and important buildings away from the beaches. The German marines began landing at 0600. The resistance was light due to the fact that the German assault was expected to land in Southern Britain.

British reaction was slow, due to Mosley believing that the main German assault was landing in Kent, and so when the first tanks arrived they were met with German tanks. Most of the fighting in May was in the Midlands, with German tanks pushing onwards to Liverpool and Manchester.
