The Pocket monsters Fushigidane, Hitokage and Zenigame[1] from the first generation of the titcular Pocket Mosters video game series. In it, the player takes the role of a "trainer" capturing the Pocket Monsters in "Monster Balls" and using them to fight in battles. The pocket monsters themselves grow in strength with every victory and may evolve into new forms the stronger they get. Pocket Monsters proved to be a significant hit in Japan and to some extent in the rest of the Alliance for Democracy, spawning sequels featuring sucessive "generations" of Pocket Monsters and an animated series[2]. Each main entry in the games is set in a different region of the Pocket Monsters world with their own Pocket Monsters; the first four mainline entries drawing on Japan for inspiration, but the fifth main entry drawing on Scandinavia, and the sixth entry drawing on India, but with some pre-Revolutionary British influences[3]. The games do have a small cult following in the CSA, but it has never really sold well there[4].
[1]Essentially this is alt-Pokemon, which was never translated into English except for the Australasian audience, and the names remained direct translations from Japanese names
[2]More serious than OTL anime due to lack of a globalized kid appeal to justify the anime being solely a kiddie show ttl through Satoshi/Ash is still the protagonist for the Kanto-era anime. However, he ends up facing Sakaki(Giovanni) and disbanding Team Rocket, winning the Kanto Championship(Pokemon League) by defeating Shigeru(Gary Oak/Blue) and each generation then focuses on a new protagonist as per games. That said, previous protagonists appear as cameos and guests occasionally on the TTL anime, and the Johto anime's final battle is Hibiki(Ethan/Gold) vs. Satoshi mirrioring Red vs. Gold in Pokémon Gold/Silver/Crystal.
[3]As a result of Cold War tensions and the Alliance for Democracy taking the place of the Russian State as the Internationale's main rival in the 21st Century, Unova and Kalos never exists as regions as they were OTL based on the US and France respectively. Also the existing Pokemon, or should I say Pocket Monsters, is identical to OTL until Gen 5, and then it starts to diverge(essentially everything in the TTL equivalent of the Pokedex up to Arceus is identical to OTL Pokedex but identified by their Japanese names, after that divergences happen). Also as for India with pre-Revolutionary British influences as a region, it is established here that Delhi unifies India.
[4]Again, due to Cold War tensions.
