A WWII era Jeep from the Dinant-Bastogne Safe Zone, circa 2016. During the Zombie conflict, these old military vehicles such as this found extensive use as a means of transportation with various survivors who had access to them.
WWZ Year 12
Location - Germany
2 years into clean up operations in Germany, it was understood by the embryonic governments of the many survivor outposts and communities that using the rail network to transport troops, weapons, ammunition, food, medicine and general goods would revolutionise war efforts against the rest of the undead.
Without proper electricity or fuel supplies, survivors turned to seeking some of Germanys railway museums in the hope for an answer. Having not been used since WWZ began, and in some cases not since WW2, Germanys fleet of steam locomotives that had either been on display in museums or in active use hauling special excursion trains were found to be in an almost immaculate condition (the latter having been hidden in locomotive depots out of the weather). Little work was needed to press them into service and soon enough, a small but busy rail network was established where trains could run at reduced speeds due to the lack of maintanence on the tracks for the last 10 years.
Word of this soon broke out to other countries, and where it could be done, other governments and survivor communities soon pressed their own preserved locomotives into action to aid the war.

A photograph of Soviet Space Shuttle OK-1.02, nicknamed Pitchka. Taken by a UN Reconnaissance group in 2020 at the Baiknour Cosmodrone in Kazakhstan. The shuttle was constructed as part of the Soviet/Russian Buran program, prior to the program being cancelled in 1993, Pitchka was around 95-97% complete. From 1995 onwards it sat abandoned in storage at the Cosmodrone and was left abandoned, untouched and collecting dust. After the war, the Holy Russian Empire acquired the shuttle and gave it a second life at the VDNKh in Moscow where it was refurbished and put on display.

A Holy Russian soldier demonstrating the brand new AK-12 rifle against zombies in a training field. The AK-12 was designed in 2011 in order to replace the Russian military's AK-74/74M standard-issue rifles. By the time of World War Z in 2013, AK-12s were still in prototype stages. Since there were not AK-12s, most of these new rifles were only spotted among elite units of the Holy Russian Empire including the Spetsnaz Alpha Group and the SVR's Zaslon.

Favela gangsters patrolling the alleyways for infected and looters. The infamous favela in Rio de Jainero became infested with zombies as the virus spread among the tight slum populations. The police had a hard time engaging infected as they would too find themselves in a three-way battle with the gangsters. Roughly 95% of the favela burned down as a result while the remaining 5% situated high above the mountains were turned into safe haven patrolled by the gangsters.

The Powell Memorial after being unveiled in December 2022. The construction of a memorial to honor the memory of Powell and his leadership during World War Z was authorized by Congress in 2015 and signed into law by President Dean.
Almost immediately afterwards began the disputes over the monument. House Speaker Eric Cantor pushed for a monument on the scale of the Lincoln Memorial or Washington Monument, declaring such the only fitting way to honor Powell. On the other hand, Dean himself advocated a smaller, humbler monument as one more akin to the kind that Powell himself would have wanted. A few fringe figures opposed the monument outright, viewing Powell’s execution of the Redeker Plan as cruel, blaming him for the outbreak as part of the Bush administration or some conspiracy, or accusing his assumption of power in 2009 thanks to faithless electors as a de facto military coup that weakened constitutional governance. When Sarah Palin won the 2016 election, she initially promised a massive monument to Powell. However, as the administration was forced to face other issues, she agrees to a more limited monument as part of a budget deal with Democrats in 2017.
A section of West Potomac Park, near the sight of the FDR Memorial, was selected from half a dozen potential alternative locations which included a site close to the Lincoln Memorial and a site outside of Washington in Arlington National Cemetery where Powell is buried. The monument itself was designed by Eddie Dixon of Texas. Around a statue of Powell are a series of walls made from scrap metal recovered from abandoned cars engraved with tally marks-one for every thousand casualties of the Zombie War and Great Panic in the United States. Powell himself stands at the center, atop an epitaph reading ‘Here stands a man who never forgot his root, who exemplified dignity, integrity and leadership and who, in America’s darkest hour, fought to save her to the last breath.’
